September Book Selection

I've selected a somewhat strange book for this month. It's got a really long title too. The book is Etidorhpa; or, The End of Earth: The Strange History of a Mysterious Being and the Account of a Remarkable History by John Uri Lloyd. Pretty long title, huh? From what I know, it's a mixture of philosophy, fantasy, religious, as well as speculative science fiction.

Lloyd was a contemporary of Jules Verne's, and from what I can tell based on the summary, Lloyd got some inspiration from Journey to the Center of the Earth. While Lloyd uses the same hollow earth beliefs Verne does, I can tell solely from the cover of Etidorhpa that the two books have much more to contrast than they do in common. I'm not entirely sure what to expect from Lloyd, so at the very least Etidorhpa will be interesting.

I've got a reading schedule if you're interested in reading it as well.

9/1 - 9/6: Pages 1-88 (Chapters I-XII)

9/7 - 9/13: Pages 89-178 (Chapters XIII-XXVIII)

9/14 - 9/21: Pages 179-271 (XXVIII-XLI)

9/22 - 9/27: Pages 272-362 (XLII-Epilogue)

It's going to be a pretty challenging read, so I will do my best to get the review in by the last Friday of September, but it may be a bit late.
