Where Goes the Road?

I’ve walked this road for quite some time,

I walk while occasionally looking behind.

Where I am going nobody knows—

nobody apart from the road, I suppose.

But where goes the road?

Where does it lead?

If I follow till tomorrow will I find what I need?

Then comes the question: what do I need?

Is it flowers, stones, squirrels and trees

which paint the sides of the road for free?

Or is this something substantial

perhaps more financial,

which only the holes in my pockets can handle?

I’ll think on this more

in remembrance for

the words of the man I met here before:

"Follow the road

where’er it may lead

so long as you go you will have what you need."

But where goes the road?

Where does it lead?

If I follow till tomorrow will I find what I need?
