It festers and grows
and blackens my soul.
Nobody knows
the darkness I hold.
…black Black! BLACK!
My soul has turned black!
BACK! Back! back…
please take me back.
I want to be whole
and clean like I was.
Alter my soul
give me your blood.
Drip drop drip
until I turn red.
Drop dip drop
until your last breath.
Drown me
in rivers of blood.
Surround me
in your crimson love.
All I need is your blood.
All I need is your love.
In life we face many difficulties, some of which we can work through practically. There are some, however, that make us realize how little we can do on our own. They bring us to our knees and force us to either bend our heads low or look up and cry out. Sometimes it takes both: we look down and see ourselves, how far we have fallen or how weak and pitiful we are. And then we look up, to One much more powerful than us. We cry out knowing that He has the answer, that He is the only one that can lift us out of ourselves. If we can reach that point and look up, we will make it out. It takes a desire for change, and the determination to raise our heads and cry out for help.
The One who can help us—the only one who can truly change our situation—has made a way. By His blood, we can rise out of our darkness and be clean. No matter how filthy we are, no matter how many demons we’ve amassed, He has poured out rivers of redemptive blood for every struggle we face. If we reach out, he will change us, lift us, and make us able to contend with darkness.
